More About Me

Committed to the Work

A proud Knoxville native, Evetty holds a Special Education degree from Alabama A&M University and a Master of Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis. Evetty understands the importance of mastering your craft to serve your community with passion and knowledge.

In her short yet fulfilled lifespan, Evetty has committed service years as a Founding Corps Member for City Year Denver and an Ella Baker Trainer for the Children’s Defense Fund. These opportunities have allowed her to continue spreading the movement by co-launching East Tennessee Freedom School in 2017.

Evetty returned to Knoxville, TN, after sharing her talents internationally as the Director of Student Services at Manor International in Abu Dhabi, UAE. In 2018, Knoxville elected Evetty to serve a four-year term on the Knox County School Board. As a school board representative for District 1, she serves on the 2019-2024 Strategic Plan Committee, a Co-Chair for the Joint Education Committee, and Disparities of Educational Outcomes Steering Committee. In her first year on the school board, Evetty actively challenged her district to be transparent around discipline disparities and hiring practices for teachers of color, specifically Black teachers.

Outside of her school board responsibilities, Evetty is the CEO of Advancing Lives, LLC, an education consulting agency centered around Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, a Social and Emotional Instructor for BIC Solutions, committee member of Tennessee Educators of Color Alliance (TECA), and Education Trust in Tennessee, School Board Partners Fellow, and an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Alpha Pi Omega Chapter.
